My Dock Buddies for Mac is here
My Dock Buddies for Mac is out today. It is a small menu-bar app that puts your buddies on top of your Dock, where they walk, work, take breaks and react when you click them. It runs on macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on an Apple silicon or Intel Mac, and members download it from their library.
What is the Mac app?
A menu-bar app: a small icon with two eyes sits in your menu bar, and the app has no Dock icon of its own. Your buddies stand on the top edge of your Dock, up to two at a time. They wander along it, tinker and nap while you work, and do something when you click them. The hub and the menu-bar menu choose who is on the Dock, and Settings sets how big each buddy is and how far they roam.
Who is it for?
Anyone who spends the day at a Mac and would like a little company there. A buddy is not a productivity tool and never adds to your to-do list. Max, the builder, is curious and a little restless; Avery, the thinker, brings a quieter rhythm. Both stay out of your way: a click on the empty space around a buddy goes straight through to whatever is behind it.
Which buddies can I have?
Max and Avery, today. Max has 37 activities and Avery has 39, with 8 moods each. Juno, the desktop salvager, is coming next, and Aadi, the kite runner, follows him. New activities keep arriving for members at no extra cost.
How do I get it?
- Sign in on the website with your email.
- Choose a plan and your buddies. Monthly is $5.99 a month, Annual is $69 a year, and Lifetime is $200 once and never renews. Each buddy is $49.50 until 13 October 2026, then $99.
- Download the app from your library, or from the download page. The download is for signed-in members with an active plan.
- Open it, agree to the terms and sign in with the 6-digit code we email you. Your buddies download and step onto your Dock.
What does it need?
macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on an Apple silicon or Intel Mac: it is one universal app. It is signed with our Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, and it comes from your library as a disk image (DMG), not from the Mac App Store. It needs the internet to sign in and download your buddies; after that they keep working offline for up to 14 days between check-ins.
I am already a member. What now?
Your buddies are already saved to your account, so there is nothing to buy again. Open your library, download the app and sign in with the same email. One account works on one Mac at a time.
What happens after that?
Updates download in the background and install when you quit the app. The app checks your purchases every 4 hours, so a buddy you buy on the website later shows up on your Mac at the next check-in, or straight away with “Refresh purchases”.
