How a buddy is made
Every buddy starts as a set of finished pictures: the face, hair, outfit and palette that make the character recognizable, even at desktop size. Once those are locked, we build the character in 3D, teach it activities, make the props those activities need and give it moods it can show.
Today Max has 37 activities, 33 props and 8 moods; Avery has 39 activities, 38 props and 8 moods. We keep adding activities, often from ideas people send us, and members get every new one at no extra cost.
Who is ready, and who is next
Max and Avery can be chosen now. Juno is coming next, and Aadi follows Juno. We share the order we are working in rather than dates, so a buddy is finished before we promise it. The roadmap shows where each character stands.
The Mac app
The Mac app was released on 14 September 2026. It runs on macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on Apple silicon and Intel Macs, and lives in the menu bar while your buddies stand on top of your Dock. Members with an active plan get the Mac app after signing in on this website, then sign in to the app with the same email; only the buddies their account has paid for download into it. One Mac per account.
Custom buddies
Annual and Lifetime members can ask us for a one-of-one buddy of themselves or another adult who has agreed to it. We read every request ourselves and set a price before any work starts. How custom buddies work.
The business behind the site
