Your buddies,
on your Dock.
My Dock Buddies runs on macOS 14 Sonoma and later. Small 3D characters stand on the top edge of your Dock, walk along it, get on with something of their own and answer when you click them. They are rigged 3D models, not sprites: drawn live, from every angle, at the size you pick.
Up to two buddies are out at a time. They wander along the Dock, or across the whole screen, or stay in the one spot, whichever you choose. Click one and they run that way; click the middle and they stop and look up at you. The app itself sits in the menu bar.
Download for Mac
Free to download, signed in or not. A plan and at least one buddy are what put someone on your Dock: without an account the app opens to an empty Dock, because every buddy is locked to the account and the computer that bought it.
Checking your account…
Before you run it: the download is a disk image. Open it, drag My Dock Buddies to Applications, then open it from there. It is signed with our Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so it opens without a warning. To uninstall, sign out in the app and move it to the Bin.

What it costs your Mac
Measured rather than guessed: two buddies walking your Dock use about 4.8% of one CPU core, and the app is a 3.4 MB download. They draw at a gentler pace when they are standing about, and stop drawing altogether when they are hidden, held or the screen is locked.
A click on the empty space around a buddy passes straight through to whatever is behind it, so nothing here sits between you and your work. Your Dock keeps every setting it already had: this is a layer above it, not a replacement for it.
They can follow your day
Switch it on and a buddy takes its cue from real things: the charger going in, the minutes you have been away from the keyboard, a locked screen, the hour of the evening. Step away and they stretch, make coffee or read; come back and they are at their own desk again. It stays off until you turn it on, and nothing ever makes a sound on its own.
Your account across a Mac and a PC
One account, one computer at a time. If your buddies are on a PC and you want them on your Mac, sign out in the app on the PC first, then sign in on the Mac. Your buddies come with you; they are tied to your account, not to the machine. If the other computer is lost, get in touch and we free it for you.
