Desktop pets for Windows, on your taskbar
My Dock Buddies runs on Windows. It is a desktop pet for a PC, built in 3D rather than pixels: small characters who stand on your taskbar, walk along it and answer when you click them. Version 0.1.0 came out on 18 September 2026 for Windows 10 and 11, and it is one portable file, so nothing is installed and you keep it wherever you like. Here is what to expect, including the warning Windows shows the first time.
What is out today
Version 0.1.0 of My Dock Buddies for Windows, released on 18 September 2026. It runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11, and the buddies on your account stand on your taskbar. The app is a free download whether you are signed in or not.
One file, and nothing gets installed
There is no installer, no setup wizard and no Program Files folder. The download is a single self-contained .exe: put it somewhere of your own and double-click it. There is one file per architecture, x64 and Arm64; take the Arm one only for a Snapdragon or other Arm PC, and the x64 one otherwise.
Windows will stop you the first time
We would rather say this plainly than let it surprise you. The build is not code-signed yet, so Windows does not recognize it and shows a blue “Windows protected your PC” box the first time you run it. Choose More info, then Run anyway. Windows remembers your answer for that file, so it is a one-time step.
No characters come inside the app
Nothing ships in the download. Your buddies arrive after you sign in: they download to your account and are encrypted to that account and that computer, so an app nobody has signed in to opens to an empty taskbar. The buddies are the paid part, $9.99 / ₹959 each and bought once.
One account, a Mac and a PC
The same account works on a Mac and on a PC, one computer at a time. Moving between them is two steps: sign out in the app on the one you are leaving, then sign in on the other. Your buddies belong to the account rather than the machine, so they come with you.
Removing it takes two steps
Sign out in the app, then delete the .exe. That is the whole uninstall, because nothing was installed in the first place. Settings also has “Remove my data and quit”, which clears what the app kept on that PC and then closes it.
Can I see one before downloading anything?
Yes, in your browser. The playground on our home page runs on a PC as it does on a Mac: click blue for a walk, coral for a run, yellow for a jump, mint for a wave or purple for a celebration, and drag to look around.
This is the first Windows release
Version 0.1.0 is where the Windows app starts, and we would rather under-promise it than list features you then have to go looking for. The Windows page is kept up to date with what is true of it today, and the download page has the install steps for both a Mac and a PC side by side.
