Buddies of real people: our likeness rules.
A custom buddy can show you or another adult who has agreed to it, never a child. A celebrity or other public figure can only be a private one-off for your own use, never listed or sold. Here are the rules for each, and what happens when someone reports a buddy.
Can I make a buddy of my friend or partner?
Yes, if they are an adult and they agree. You can ask for a custom buddy of yourself or of another adult who has said yes, such as a partner, a friend or a family member. When you send the request, you confirm that you may share every photo and that the person agreed. We don’t make buddies of children, and we turn down photos with strangers in them, ID documents and intimate images.
Can I make a cartoon of a celebrity?
Yes, as a private one-off for your own personal use. A buddy inspired by a celebrity, founder or other public figure is a cartoon take, delivered only to you and never listed or advertised in our store. You agree not to resell it or present it as endorsed by that person. We turn down requests meant to mock, sexualize, harass, trick, campaign or suggest an endorsement.
What if two people ask for the same public figure?
Our character style, base designs and animations are ours to reuse. If two people ask for buddies inspired by the same public figure, both may be built from the same base design, each personalized and delivered privately. Your own photos and personal details are never reused for anyone else.
Is Leaders & Founders based on real people?
No. Leaders & Founders is a future collection for the store: made-up characters like the Rocket Founder and the Late-Night Coder, drawn from the world of founders and tech leaders. They do not use a real person’s name or copy a real person’s face. A named character of a real person appears in the store only with that person’s written agreement.
Found a buddy of yourself you didn’t agree to?
Anyone can ask us to remove a character made from their likeness. Use the contact page, choose “Likeness report” as the topic, and tell us who you are and how to reach you. We pause the buddy while we look into it. If the request was not allowed, we remove the buddy along with the photos behind it.
Is a removed buddy refunded?
No. When a buddy is removed after a valid report, it no longer unlocks for that customer and leaves their library. The payment is not returned, and repeated misuse leads to the account being closed. The only refund for custom work is when we can’t deliver a buddy at all.
What should I know before I send a request?
Custom buddies come with the Annual and Lifetime plans: one open request at a time, and at most one a day. We set a price before you pay, you pay up front, and we aim to deliver within 72 hours of payment. Your buddy is a stylized 3D character, not an exact match of anyone’s face.
